A few tips and tricks to get the most out of your newborn session experience:
When To Schedule Your Session
Once you give birth and are home, reach out to get your official session date on the calendar. It is best to have your session within the first two weeks of life when they are still super sleepy and still haven't developed baby acne. Most newborns do the best with a morning session right after their first feeding of the day.
Choose Your Props
There are a variety of wraps, headbands, and props you can choose from to incorporate in your newborn session. Visit this blog post to see what is available.
The Morning of Your Session
To get your newborn extra sleepy for their session, give them a bath earlier in the morning so they stay awake a little bit longer than usual. Follow that up with keeping them awake and stimulated for one to two hours prior to your session. If it's possible, try to time their final feeding before photos to end about 10-15 minutes prior to the session so their tummy is full and they fall into a milk coma for the duration of photo taking.
Studio Options
If cleaning your home when you have a newborn isn't on your priority list, I have a few tried and true studio options available for your session. You can find those studio options listed in this blog post, along with some outdoor locations for next time ;)
