Maybe it’s just because I have an October birthday but I absolutely LOVE fall!! From the colors of changing leaves to the crisp autumn air to football season to the anticipation of the holidays, fall is definitely my favorite season! As a photographer, fall bodes a somewhat different feel of from years past.
For photographers, fall becomes a busy season as families pile in to update their annual photos for Christmas cards. Finding a spot in the schedule for an abundance of families becomes quite a trial which is why mini sessions are so helpful. One date is designated to serve a variety of families while still being able to deliver a meaningful final gallery full of beautiful images.
Being photographed as part of a mini session is also advantageous for families! It is a shorter session so children’s attention spans don’t wear too thin and husbands don’t have as much reason to grumble. You can unplug from the outside world to fully engage with your loved ones to create everlasting memories. And fall simply creates a breathtaking backdrop of vibrant autumn leaves to add icing to the cake that is family photography.
This fall marked my busy season being fully booked out so I was especially excited to host this special mini session event. Wisconsin weather can be unpredictable but we were lucky enough to have mother nature treat us to trees in magnificent hues of reds, oranges, and yellows.
Despite the (extremely) crisp fall air, the warmth of the families’ love for each other was contagious. From parents swinging their kids around to couples stealing a few romantic moments, every shot felt like a candid glimpse into their lives. A few families even brought their four-legged friends along for the fun… and boy, did they steal the show!
To all the families who joined me at the event, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your journey. It’s moments like these, filled with love, laughter, and beautiful fall colors, that make my passion for photographing families even more profound.
