If you’re a mom, then you know fighting with a toddler about what they’re going to wear on any given day is a lost cause. At the same time, moms put a lot of effort into planning and coordinating outfits for family photos. So, when your toddler wakes up and refuses to wear what you’ve been planning, it can be frustrating. I know. I’ve been there.

This lovely family had the perfect plan of attack to appease their strongminded 3-year-old. When it came to getting dressed, they let her choose her outfit and then all chose a color that correlated with her patterned shirt. It also wasn’t a pre-planned ordeal but rather it was an outfit roulette morning. And wouldn’t you know, their outfits came together so great!

The little lady was all in with her yellow flower shirt and jeans. Her patterned shirt provided the rest of the family a color palette to work with. Dad repeated the yellow, brother switched the blue from the jeans to his top, and mom was the glue that tied all the outfits together by wearing a neutral color. Not only did the outfits come together beautifully but they also did a pre-session incentive so the kiddos were ready to go when we started snapping photos.

Moral of the story, if you have a toddler, always have a variety of outfit colors at the ready in your closet so you can coordinate with your children, no matter what they throw at you an hour before family photos. Can’t wait to see the outfit combinations you come up with when I see you on the other side of the lens!
