If you're anything like me, your phone is probably filled with thousands of photos of your kids. There are the blurry action shots, the accidental screenshots, the 47 nearly identical pictures from the same afternoon, and then those few really good photos that make you stop scrolling and think, "I need to do something with this one." And then... you don't.
The photo stays on your phone. Maybe you post it to Instagram. Maybe you send it to Grandma. And eventually, it gets buried under hundreds of new photos. Sound familiar?
As a family photographer, one of my biggest goals isn't just to give you beautiful digital images. It's to help you actually do something with those images. That's why all of my regular family photography packages include a print credit. Because I believe your family photos deserve to live somewhere other than a hard drive or a camera roll.
Think about the photos hanging in your own childhood home. Maybe there's one of you sitting on your dad's lap, a family portrait from when you were little, or a school photo that has somehow survived decades. Those photos become part of the story of your family.
There's something different about seeing a photograph printed and hanging on your wall. You walk past it every day. Your kids see themselves in your home. Guests notice it. And every once in a while, you'll stop and remember exactly how little they were when that photo was taken. A digital file can't quite do that. Your favorite images shouldn't require you to open your phone, scroll through your camera roll, find the right folder, and hope you can remember which cloud service they're stored on. Print them. Frame them. Put them somewhere you'll actually see them.
One of the biggest reasons I include a print credit with my sessions is because I want you to have access to the same quality of printing that I use as a professional photographer. When you receive your gallery from me, your online gallery is connected directly to a professional photo lab. This means you can order prints and other products directly from your gallery without having to download your images and upload them to a random consumer printing website. And yes… there really is a difference.
Professional photo labs use high-quality photographic papers, carefully calibrated equipment, and color-managed workflows designed specifically for professional photography. Many professional labs also have experienced technicians who review prints for color, density, and overall quality before they leave the lab. That matters because the image you see on your screen isn't necessarily going to look the same when it's printed.
Your photographer spends a lot of time making sure the colors, skin tones, brightness, and contrast in your images look just right. A professional lab helps carry that work through to the finished print. Professional labs also offer archival-quality papers and printing options designed for longevity, so you're not just getting a pretty print today—you're investing in something that's meant to last.
You absolutely can print photos at a drugstore, big-box retailer, or consumer photo website. But there's a reason professional photographers use professional labs. Consumer printing services can vary significantly in color accuracy and print quality. Professional labs are specifically designed to work with photographers and their professionally edited images, offering consistent color, professional-grade papers, and products designed to showcase your images beautifully.
Plus, ordering directly through your gallery makes the whole process easier. You don't have to wonder what size to order, whether the colors will look right, or whether the print will actually look like the image you fell in love with in your gallery. I've already done the work of choosing a professional lab so you don't have to.
I don't want your images to become another forgotten folder on your computer. Use your online gallery credit to print a few of your favorites for frames around your home. Create a collection of prints for your kids' bedrooms. Choose a larger piece for the wall above your couch. Or start a gallery wall that you can add to every time we photograph your family. There isn't one "right" way to display your photos. The important thing is that you actually display them.
Here's the thing about photographing your family while your kids are little: this season goes by incredibly fast. The toddler who is currently obsessed with dinosaurs will eventually outgrow them. The baby who fits perfectly in your arms will eventually be taller than you. Those chubby cheeks, tiny hands, missing teeth, wild curls, and belly laughs won't always look the same. You won't get this exact version of your family back.
That's why I don't want your family photos sitting untouched in a digital gallery. Print the photo where your toddler is wrapped around your leg. Print the one where everyone is laughing. Print the one where your baby's little hand is wrapped around yours. Print the imperfect one that somehow captures your family perfectly. Because someday, those aren't just going to be photos. They're going to be memories!
If it's been a while since you've updated the photos hanging in your home, maybe this is your sign to finally do it! And if your walls are looking a little bare, I'd love to help. My family sessions are designed to capture your family exactly as you are in this season of life, and your included print credit makes it easy to turn those memories into something you can enjoy every single day. Let's get those photos out of your camera roll and onto your walls where they belong!
