I don’t know about you but I am a HUGE lover of all holidays!! Of course, Christmas trumps all and for this Halloween Eve baby, I love a good costume party but if I’m being completely honest, I enjoy giving each holiday it’s time to shine throughout the year… especially after having kids. Let’s take time to celebrate with fireworks and a barbeque on the 4th of July. Catch me chowing down on some tacos for Cino de Mayo. Don’t even talk to me about Christmas until Thanksgiving is over so we can enjoy a good turkey day. And most definitely cheers with a green beer for St. Patty’s Day!
When my daughter came along my love for photography went overboard! Not only did I do monthly portraits to track her growth but if a holiday was around the corner, you better believe I found a cute outfit and some props to mark the occasion. After that first year of photos for each holiday, I became obsessed and wanted to keep the tradition alive each year.
After my son entered the scene, he got thrown into the mix. And when my mom got a puppy, you guessed it… he came along for the ride too! I love the chance to come up with different setups for the holiday and finding cute props to decorate each scene. The outfits are often super cute and although they end up only wearing them twice, once for pictures and once for the actual holid-DAY, in my mind it’s so worth it!
I know right now they are under the impression that mom takes too many photos… and if I’m being honest, I do... I’m a huge abuser of the “just one more” phrase only to snap about fifty more images. But looking back from year to year on these photos is such a blessing and I like to think when they’re older, they’ll enjoy these moments too!
This insistence on capturing every holiday in photos is part of the reason I started offering Birthday Minis. So much emphasis is put on first birthday photos and the classic cake smash session. But what about the formidable years that follow?? Why not continue to capture each birthday with professional photos so you have these sweet years frozen in time forever?!
If you want to know more about Birthday Minis, make sure to join the email list so you can be the first to know when the date for the next quarter of the year is coming up.
