As a family photographer based out of Greendale, WI, I simply love capturing families as they grow and welcome new family members. Having the newborn stage of life, which is so fleeting, captured on camera is an irreplaceable treasure you can hold on to for a lifetime and beyond. In addition to the newborn stage, it is an absolute pleasure to photograph the excitement families share through maternity photos as they anticipate their new addition.
I first crossed paths with this lovely family during one of my first mini session events in November of 2021. They brought their energetic pup to Poplar Creek Tree Farm for some Christmas photos and they were such great clients to work with. They even brought Packers gear for a few photos making this tried and true Wisconsin girl’s day even more complete. Fast forward to this year when I had the honor of documenting their journey from a family of three, including their furry companion, to a family of four. This time, their adorable pup was taking on the role of big sister and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have the honor of capturing this chapter in the story of their lives.
For their maternity session, we immersed ourselves in the stunning natural beauty of Retzer Nature Center in Waukesha, WI. Tall pines and a breathtaking open field provided the perfect backdrop for capturing the radiant pregnancy glow of the mom-to-be. The session was scheduled at sunset which added a touch of enchantment to the whole experience. The love and excitement this family felt as they awaited their new addition made for some truly magical moments.
When the time came for their newborn session, they opted for the cozy comfort of their own home. I firmly believe that by having your newborn session in home, you are able to highlight your family’s unique bond and capture an essence of everyday life creating authentic and heartwarming photographs. As a nod to Dad’s profession, we incorporated fruit stuffies into some solo shots since Dad owns a produce company. This charming idea added a personal touch to their newborn photos with a baby cornucopia at the center of it all.
